Are You Showing Appreciation?

Letting donors know how much you appreciate their support is a basic fundraising tenet.  How have you built this into your 2012 PAC fundraising strategies?

It’s a fact.  You cannot say “thank you” enough!  The more immediate, frequent and personal you show your appreciation, the better.

Consider these actions:

  1. Send a short handwritten note to your donors to thank them for their support.  Many will tack notes like these up around their workplace rather than throw them away.  It’s worth your time and effort.
  2. Make sure to send new donors a personal email welcoming them to the PAC and outline upcoming activities, communications and events they can expect to see from the PAC in the coming year.
  3. Review all of the PAC’s communications with donors in the past year and count how many times they were thanked.  You may be surprised at the number of “missed” opportunities.

Showing your appreciation to donors isn’t something that’s nice to do once in a while; it’s critical to building and retaining a culture for political involvement in your organization.
